One of five FTZ's in Taiwan, the Taoyuan site includes dedicated facilities with a focus on the aviation sector.

The Taoyuan Aviation FTZ was the first FTZ to be development on the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model. Development was handled by the Farglory Free Trade Zone company with the support of the Civil Aviation Administration. The total area of development was 35 hectares and conducted in 3 phases. Approval was granted by the Executive Yuan on May 25, 2005, and phase 1 commenced operations in January, 2006. The Taoyuan Aviation FTZ is situated near the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park, the Linkou Industrial Park, the Jhongli Industrial Park, the Guanyin Industrial Park and Wugu Industrial Park. The importation and exportation as well as associated value-adding logistics services for all raw materials needed by the industrial parks as well as their final products can all be handled by the Taoyuan Aviation FTZ and Air Cargo Park to achieve operational synergies. As of December, 2008, there were 83 operators in the Taoyuan Aviation FTZ/Air Cargo Park. These included ASML Taiwan, Corsair, FedEx and ENF.
