Taree is about a 3-hour drive from Sydney, New South Wales

In order to progress and grow its Regional Airport, the Greater Taree City Council is calling for expressions of interest from the aviation community to take up hangar sites in an aviation business park catering for the needs of aviation related businesses and private aircraft owners. Whilst the expressions of interest formally closed on 20 November 2009, Council is still happy to talk to people about their requirements. The airport is growing rapidly and the expansion will be staged over the next five to ten years to accommodate more aviation-related businesses.

It is proposed that the expansion project may include provisions for:

Area(s) for aviation related businesses Area(s) to accommodate helicopters and helicopter related businesses Area(s) general aviation hanger / storage space Provision for flying training school(s) for fixed wing and / or helicopter aircraft
Council plans to create additional taxiways, access roads, parking and hardstand area and provide water, power and sewer and drainage infrastructure.
